“Doing Diversity” Dialogue
“Doing Diversity” Dialogue
The “Doing Diversity” Initiative is about intercultural interaction leading to positive societal change. Scroll down and reply to the questions to Barb@munson.net
Goals:
Diversity within the actual membership reflects AAUW Mission and Diversity Statements
AAUW becomes a stronger change agent in our communities
How can we assist our Branch in assessing our community issues, needs and strengths?
Who can we invite to the table to strengthen the solutions network?
Use the following questions to guide assessment of community issues and resources and to develop a strong network. Get the partners together and create a community action plan.
Community Assessment
Does the community value diversity?
Who are the diverse groups in community?
Who in the community is addressing the issues?
What are the barriers to intercultural solution making?
Who is a potential ally?
Are there county, state or national supports available?
Community Diversity Concerns:
What are the issues?
Who in the community is impacted? How?
Are there different cultural perspectives regarding issues?
Is there a need for education?
What information would be helpful?
Would reframing the issue move it toward solution?
